Artificial intelligence (AI) tech company Modulate Inc has announced that Holotech Studios has selected VoiceWear to provide realistic and motive voice skins in Animaze, which is a platform focused on empowering streamers, content creators, artists, and consumers to create, buy, and sell state-of-the-art virtual content like avatars. Modulate Inc relies on AI to create a better environment for identity, online safety, and communication through voice.

Dragos Stanculescu is CEO of Holotech Studios.

“Our mission with Animaze is to allow anyone to be seen and heard as they choose. So far we’ve focused a lot on the visual side of avatar customization and embodiment. Now, with Modulate’s VoiceWear technology, we are excited to enable our users to extend the concept of deep embodiment to how they sound as their avatar,” said Stanculescu.

Mike Pappas is CEO of Modulate.

“VoiceWear uses machine learning to analyze a user’s speech in milliseconds and produce new speech – with the exact emotion, inflection, and cadence of the user- in the voice of a chosen character or archetype,” said Pappas. “Animaze can create even more immersive experiences by choosing a voice skin that lets users sound like a better fit with a different age, gender, or body type from their own; or select more exotic voices which match characters like orcs or robots.”

What is Holotech Studios?

Based in San Francisco, Holotech Studios is focused on “developing the next generation of amazing interactive avatar technology for PC and smartphones.” The company aims to bring avatar-based communication to the masses, and their products are used by millions of people worldwide. Some of the biggest names on YouTube and Twitch, such as PewDiePie, JackSepticEye, and GoodMythical Morning utilize the company’s products.

What is Modulate?

Based in Boston, Modulate’s goal is “empowering the future of identity, online safety, and communication through voice.” Modulate’s team consists of experts in audio, machine learning research, and various thought leaders.

Modulate came up with VoiceWear, which is the first-ever system for emotive, character-accurate voice skins. The company has already raised a total of $6M from leading investors like 2Enable Partners, Hyperplane Venture Capital, Sierra Ventures, and Everblue Management.

Voice skins are a new type of digital asset that uses machine learning to analyze the speech of a player in milliseconds before producing new speech. This new speech matches the exact emotion, inflection, and cadence of the original player while being demonstrated through the voice of a chosen character or archetype. This means a player can select a voice skin based on age, gender, body type, and more.
